I'm sitting here, about to write my very last “Scuba Says” article for my time here at Trinity. I wanted to write something to really WOW people, something no one would forget. I wanted to fill this paper up with words that would inspire and move people to really think about what it means to grow together in Christ. I wanted to use some space to thank you all for your many gifts, cards, and encouragement as Calie and I prepare for our move to seminary in St. Louis. And yet, I sit with an all-too-familiar writer's block. Our trip out-of-town certainly marks a bitter-sweet chapter of our lives. Calie and I are so excited to start fresh in a new place. I'm very excited to head back to school and begin my preparation for pastoral ministry. I'm excited to be involved in sports intramurals and even spend a few stressful nights studying and taking tests. Calie is excited to teach at a new school and be involved with other seminary wives in St. Louis. However, we're gonna miss all of you! We have been blessed here at Trinity with so many beautiful friends. What a wonderful church family we've been a part of. We will never forget any of you, or our time here in Hudson. Have you ever thought about what would be said at your eulogy? An eulogy is a formal expression of praise or a written tribute, especially one praising someone who has died. Granted, I'm not planning on dieing anytime soon. God-willing, I will be around for a long time so I can be a great, great-grandfather of a whole nation of mini-Scuba's. But after you read an eulogy you have a pretty good idea of what that person was passionate about. What they loved and what they're remembered for. Hmmm, how does Scuba Steve want to be remembered? Here is what I want my eulogy to sound like: He was passionate about Jesus. Even more so, Jesus was passionate about him and the ministry that he spent his heart and energy with. Though sometimes more a kid than a “responsible adult” it was always clear that it was the love of Christ that energized every part of his body. It was that same love from Christ that stemmed into his love for God's children in Trinity's youth ministry. He wanted every student, parent, and person he talked with to be so in-love with Jesus Christ; not just as their savior but as their best friend as well. He wanted everyone to be assured that God would always be there for them, no matter what struggles and curveballs Satan threw their way. He wanted people to be active in prayer, comforted by the scriptures and guided by the Holy Spirit. He lived a carefree, fun-loving life celebrating God's ultimate gift of grace and was the prime example of God's annoying love for imperfect people. Finally, Scuba would want everyone to simply know that God loves you and so does he!

We will hope to have adults there to provide plenty of tasty food for the days we are there. This is also open to any parents and adults that are interested. It will be a great time of fellowship and music, and yes, we'll have plenty of time for water fights, carrot and pudding wars, Frisbee and more! To find out the bands that will be there, go to: www.sonshinefestival.com . You can get early bird prices if you get your tickets now! More information will be coming so stay tuned!
